Health care for your pet really is a team effort. Vets, nurses and receptionists are all crucial in your pets care. We have a great team, everyone contributes and everyone truly cares about animlas. It is a fantastic environment to work in and we'd love to introduce you to some of our people.

All of our team are highly trained. Nurses working on reception do a great job providing useful advice and triaging phone calls, our surgical nurses provide skilled care in the operating theatre as well as dedicated hospital care and post op nursing. Our vets are all very experienced and provide leadership and drive for the whole team.

Dr. Oliver Reeve
BVSc MANZCVS (Veterinary Pharmacology)

Oliver graduated from Massey University in 1999. He worked in Wellington for two years before moving to London to work in a busy companion animal practice. In 2005 he returned home and was thrilled at the opportunity to join the Onewa Road Veterinary Hospital.

In 2014, after 2 years of arduous study, he passed written and oral examinations in veterinary pharmacology and is now a member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists. This a hard earned qualification that reflects the dedication and increased knowledge of vets who successfully complete the examinations

Oliver brings his top level skills and ebullient style to the clinic every day. He relishes the variety and challenge of working in a high quality clinic, loves being around animals and being able to help them. He has a dog, 2 cats, and a rabbit that ensure he is always covered in animal fur.

Dr. Richard McKee

Richard graduated from Massey University in 1991 and then spent the first 2 years of his career working in Lower Hutt. Wanderlust kicked in and the next four years were spent based in the UK. Richard worked in the home counties and travelled widely. Returning to NZ he spent seven years working in Whangarei and became a partner in his practice. In 2005 Richard joined the Onewa Road Veterinary Hospital.

Richard is a dynamo of veterinary medicine. He is a passionate, dedicated, perfectionist with a wide skillset in medicine and surgery that he practices to the highest level. Richard sets the standards that other vets try to follow.

Richard is continually impressed with the dedicated clients at the clinic, he says they make his job so much more fulfilling.

Richard has a small dog with a big personality!

Dr. Cheryll Walmsley

Cheryll has been with the clinic since 2001, splitting her time between consultations and clinic administration. Without her managerial skills the clinic would grind to a halt. Cheryll is an enormously experienced and thorough vet with the the gentlest of approaches. Every animal she sees is gone over with the fine toothed comb of clinical expertise honed by many years of experience.

Cheryll is a highly motivated and driven vet maintaining high standards in clinical practice, we are lucky to have her.

Dr. Amber Kennedy

Amber is our newest vet to join the team. She graduated from Massey university in 2015 and has been working in small animal practice ever since. Amber enjoys all aspects of veterinary care and is learning lots from her experienced colleagues. She brings a fresh breath of youthful enthusiasm to the clinic, clients and their furry friends..
